Eco Team
The Eco Team at Moorcroft Wood Academy is made up of passionate and responsible children who are committed to caring for our school environment and the wider world. Their role is to promote sustainability across school, encourage environmentally friendly habits, and lead initiatives that help reduce our impact on the planet. The team meets regularly to share ideas, plan projects, and work alongside staff to make positive changes, such as improving recycling, saving energy, and developing our outdoor spaces. As environmental ambassadors, they inspire their peers to take pride in protecting the environment and demonstrate how small actions can make a big difference.

Litter Picking.
The Eco Team recently took part in a litter-picking event within our local community with Miss Hollingworth and Mr Croft, demonstrating their commitment to protecting the environment beyond the school gates. Working together, the pupils collected over 5 bags of litter in just one afternoon, making an immediate and visible difference to the area. As part of their learning, the children researched the impact of littering and discovered that plastic bottles can take up to 450 years to decompose. This statistic helped them to understand just how long waste can remain in our environment and the harm it can cause to wildlife and natural habitats. By removing litter and raising awareness, our Eco Team not only improved the local area but also encouraged others to take pride in keeping our community clean and safe.
